It’s been a long time since I was on the Mineralize Skinfinish bandwagon but lately I’ve been in the mood to serve some good cheek. I was recently at the MAC Pro Store in Paddington for strictly sensible reasons – honestly! – but spied MAC Otherearthly Mineralize Skinfinish on the stand and decided to treat myself.
A glowy apple cheek that compliments some deft contouring or a little cool weather bronzer is my latest jam: it gives a little visual pop without being noticeably bright or attention-grabbing.
Otherearthly is a mix of three distinct colours – delicate copper, light peach and a high sheen white silver. When mixed together they combine to make a delicate pearly apricot sheen.
I was a little leery of the silver in this highlighter because it’s quite sparkly – almost glittery – when compared to the smooth pearl of the copper and peach tones, but the sparkle is reasonably muted when blended and applied. Otherwordly isn’t dark enough to give obvious colour on my cheeks, but it gives a pleasant apricot flush that compliments a touch of bronzer or a shaped contoured cheek.
Honestly, my only beef with this product is the packaging itself. The hinged top doesn’t have a lip or recess on the front of the compact, making it hard for me to open with my slightly stiff fingers. If I had arthritis or more pronounced joint problems I’d find this nigh on impossible to open. Nice product on the inside, but that’s no use if I can’t open the compact!
