I have emerged from my Fallout 4 cocoon to let you know that Lush have, as always, gone all out on some cute limited edition Christmas goodies this year. I’ve gone through an entire bottle of Lord of Misrule shower cream already, as well as reacquainting myself with some old favourites like So White Bath Bomb.
With a name like Lush Santa Baby Lip Tint I was expecting a sheer wash of cherry gloss, but Santa Baby is an opaque satin finish full colour lipstick. One swipe gives full coverage without any patchiness on my lips, but it will catch and crumble if your kisser isn’t smooth and hydrated. It has great staining power so if you want to get some colour without the matching high maintenance upkeep of a red power lip I’d suggest applying the lip tint, waiting 15 to 20 minutes for the colour to stain properly, then wiping away with a clean tissue.
I’m not the most skilled at getting a smooth even edge when applying a high pigment lip colour straight from a lip balm tube (as the wonky edges above will testify to) so I’d suggest using a lip brush to get a crisp edge, or blot on with a fingertip to create a flushed, doll-like kiss.
Lush’s lip scrubs are a product you’re either wild about or totally ambivalent towards, and I admit that I’m more in the latter category. Lush Santa’s Lip Scrub is a cola-ish flavoured caster sugar scrub made with date and cherry extract and bound with a touch of extra virgin coconut oil. It’s, y’know, fine. A perfectly adequate sugar lip scrub. You’ll probably end up eating it from your fingertip anyway, let’s be real!
