I’m not going to go into much detail about the OPI & Coca-Cola Icons Of Style nail polish collaboration short of saying that there are times when the fruits of late game capitalism capital-w Weird Me Out, and this is definitely one of those times. Corporate merchandising can be a real trip sometimes, you know?
Enough about that though. Let’s see some nail polish.
Coca-Cola Red nail polish is exactly that: a vibrant mid-tone red cream that’s similar to, if not identical to the classic red branding on Coca-Cola products. The formula of this polish was outstanding, not too thick and not too thin, and pigmented enough that I only needed one thin coat to achieve a rich and even layer of colour.
If you have a lot of red nail polishes already then Coca-Cola Red isn’t perhaps going to scratch your itch for something new and unseen, but I’m not a huge red polish collector and this adds a nice practical classic red to my lacquer stash. I can definitely see myself reaching for Coca-Cola Red for dolled-up date nights. SOme other classic red cremes include Butter LONDON Pillar Box Red and Face Of Australia Lady In Red.
Turn On The Haute Light nail polish is a metallic mesh polish in a high shine white silver finish. I’m a magpie for silver nail polishes and this is up there with the best I’ve tried. It lays down to a sparkling smooth foiled finish in just two thin coats, although it’s entirely possible to apply one thick coat if you’re in a hurry. I recommend spending a little prep time with a nail buffer to get the smoothest base possible as the metallic finish can highlight every bump and ridge on my nail in startling high-def detail.
You know what Coca-Cola collaboration polish I’d really like to see? A soft muted gold frost identical to a can of Diet Coke Caffeine Free, aka the only cola I’ll drink. Get on it OPI!
