Another week, another Patentpolish lip pencil. I have an addiction, and that addiction is chunky wind-up gloss crayons. Please send help (and more lip crayons). Today I’m wearing MAC Revved Up Patentpolish Lip Pencil, a soft sheer peach with ultrafine golden shimmer that makes for a perfect workday lip.
First up: this is perfect for cool-toned porcelain princesses. It’s so, so flattering, with enough colour to gently mute the natural pink tones of my lips, but not enough to look obviously made up. The golden shimmer adds a gentle lustre to my lips that boosts the shine effect without actually adding to the gloss factor – it’s a neat trick that I appreciate given that I’m not inclined to wear ultra glossy glosses at the best of times.
Revved Up is exactly the kind of colour I reach for when it comes to doing my makeup for my day job. Although bold makeup isn’t explicitly frowned upon, it’s a bit of a boy’s club and wearing colourful makeup invites more oblivious dudebro comments than I’m really willing to put up with. A soft peachy colour like this is just right to give a little polish to my face without being ‘done’ – I like to look a lil’ pretty, but not obviously so.
Revved Up lasts around three hours on my lips without any lipliner or primer. It doesn’t leave a stain as it wears away, but the fine golden shimmer remains a soft subtle sheen on my bare lips.
