Chanel Bel-Argus nail polish

I normally only try and feature upcoming or available products here on swatchgirl.com, but I’ll make an exception just this once: I’ve had Chanel Bel-Argus nail polish sitting on my desk for a year now, I’ve tried it multiple times, I’ve done everything to make it work… and I can’t. I just can’t. It’s absolutely terrible.

I like the rich oceanic blue of Bel-Argus in a kitchy late 90s way, and it has an interesting mildly duochrome-esque finish that flashes slightly teal and aqua in different lights, but there’s no getting around the fact that it’s a really, really dated formula, like an old fashioned thin enamel. The polish itself dries thin and brittle and, like every other Chanel lacquer I’ve tried, it chips like hell within a day. I’ve tried dozens of variations of base coat and top coat, Chanel’s own base included, and absolutely nothing keeps it on my nails.

I want to like Bel-Argus, honestly. I’ve wanted to like every Chanel nail polish I’ve tried, especially at Chanel prices, but they’re just not A Thing for me. Chanel, please. Please do something to make me like your nail polishes. I want to like you, Chanel, please!
