First and foremost I apologise for the appalling state of my nails/cuticles/fingers in this post; I’ve been on a cleaning tear this week and my fat lil’ fingers are bearing the brunt of all that Windexing. But! I still come bearing grey nail polish swatches, as is my sworn duty, and today I’m all about Essie Maximillian Strasse-Her nail polish, a cool grey with a touch of green.
Maximillian Strasse-Her is a little thicker than other Essie polishes I’ve tried, but not unworkably so. If anything it made this polish a bit easier to apply because I didn’t have the pooling or cuticle flooding issues I’ve had with some older Essie lacquers. Application was a straight two coater, with the first settling a little patchy on my nails, and the second coat smoothing the colour out to a smooth flawless finish.
OPI Skull & Crossbones is more of a true sage/grey while OPI Stranger Tides is much greener. Hello Darling Delancy is more creamy, Kit Cosmetics Down Low is warmer, MAC Cosmetics Hyperion is more blue, and BYS Shadow Puppets is lighter.
I nearly passed on buying Maximillian Strasse-Her because I thought I’d have a dozen identical lacquers, but I’m glad I ended up picking it up on an impulse. I’ve got a lot of lacquers that are within the same general colour family but nothing identical, and besides – it’s not like there’s such a thing as too many grey nail polishes, right?
