Sometimes you just need a kick ass deep burgundy nail polish to start your day off right. Paint your talons a deep bad gal burgundy, put on some high waisted jeans, think about the 90s a lot, watch The Craft again. I kid, I kid. Covergirl Wine Stain nail polish (or to give it its full name, Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss) is a righteous deep dark red nail polish that dries to a high shine gloss.
Wine Stain has a slightly jelly-like finish and requires two coats to achieve an even colour. It was outstandingly good to apply, with the formula neither too thick nor too thin, and it didn’t puddle or bubble. There is a slight colour difference along the very edges of the polish where my first coat and second coat don’t quite match up millimeter perfect, something common to jelly and jelly-like polishes, but it’s no big deal and is barely obvious.
Wine Stain reminds me a lot of Chanel Diabolique, which I unfortunately I’ve long since lost. Wine Stain is redder than OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, and very similar but slightly more jelly-like than Essie Wicked. If you’re looking for a budget dupe of those more pricey polishes, then Wine Stain is an excellent buy.
