Napoleon Perdis In The Flesh Luminous Lip Veil

Napoleon Perdis In The Flesh Luminous Lip Veil

I’m running out of adjectives to describe ‘a natural, no effort lip colour that’s perfect for lazy people’ because, let’s be real here, I talk about that kind of lip colour a lot. What can I say? I like make up that requires little prep and no fastidious application – I want to look fresh and cute, but I don’t want to spend more than 30 seconds to achieve cuteness, y’know? Today I’m hitting my thesaurus to creatively describe Napoleon Perdis In The Flesh Luminous Lip Veil, a sheer pink nude gloss that’s a-ok perfect for my fellow no effort makeup mavens.

In The Flesh is a nondescript pinky beige in the tube, but on my lips it’s a pretty sheer-but-there wash of colour with some very, very subtle sparkles here and there. The shimmer serves to make the already high shine gloss look even glassier, but it’s definitely not a blinged out glitterfest gloss.

The reason why I’ve been getting a lot of mileage out of In The Flesh is because it looks great without lipliner. Some nude glosses can pull and gather into the subtle natural lines of my lips and require prepwork with colour applied evenly across the lip from a tinted lipliner. In The Flesh, however, has a nice glazed/cellophane effect that gives colour without it looking creased or uneven. You can apply it over tinted lipliner for a more opaque effect, but it works just as well onto a naked lip and that makes it a winner in my books.

The only real downside with this gloss is the very sweet fragrance. After a while I find the sugary scent becomes rather cloying, but your mileage may vary if you’ve got a stronger tolerance to super sweet fragrances. If this gloss had a citrusy or minty scent then it’d be the complete package for me.

For comparisons sake I grabbed a handful of neutral/natural/My Lips But Better glosses I regularly rotate through my working makeup kit. All of these glosses give a refined, restrained wash of colour that emphasise natural lip tones without being pasty or concealer-y looking.
