Illamasqua Omen nail polish swatch & review

Illamasqua Omen nail polish

Illamasqua Omen nail polish

You know what I need in my life right now? A cartoonishly acid bright candy bright green nail polish. Illamasqua Omen nail polish is pretty much all that and more; the most OTT of all OTT green lacquers. The polish itself is also a black light reactive colour, but given that I hate cheesy nightclubs I don’t think I’ll be waving it under UV lights any time soon!

Omen is a vibrant green with fine greenish goldish shimmer. It was almost – almost – a one coater, but a couple of thin spots meant that I applied a second super thin coat. The first coat was flawlessly streak free, but a few marbled streaks appeared with the second application. The lacquer itself is somewhat thick but not unworkable, so keep a quick hand to make sure the polish will apply smooth as butter.

Colourwise I don’t have anything quite like Omen in my nail collection. The obvious comparison is Illamasqua’s own Smash nail polish. Smash is a darker, flatter green, and doesn’t have the shimmer of Omen. Omen is a much sassier bright green, brighter than Ciate Mojito, lighter than Pretty Serious VT100, and more vibrant than Zoya Ivanka.
