Butter London Knackered nail polish swatch & review

Butter London Knackered nail polish

Butter London Knackered nail polish

That’s how I feel about Butter London Knackered nail polish. It’s… well, it’s pretty gosh danged ugly. It’s a sheer pearly frost that’s violet purple from one angle and an algae green from another, and studded with holographic glitter that errs on the side of gaudiness. It’s a lacquer ugly as sin, let’s be honest here, but for some reason I can’t bring myself to ditch it and make room for a polish that’s more conventionally attractive.

The polish itself is very sheer, so I used four thin coats to get this level of opacity. One or two coats over a soft pastel violet or seafoam green would work just as well. The formula is one of the better Butter London polishes I’ve used recently, applying thin but not runny.

At some point I think I need to try this over a black cream polish to get an iridescent effect, or even just haphazardly sponge it on for a galaxy effect. Either way I need to make a decision on this polish: do I love it, or do I hate it?

I REALLY want to see this polish over black – I’m such a sucker for any sort of iridescence. I actually hater Butter London the first time I tried them. I got a free polish with a magazine once and thought it was TERRIBLE. Having said that, I recently gave them another chance with some of their gaudier polishes (Disco Biscuit and Lovely Jubbly) and I’m completely in love!
