In case you missed my first OPI Oz The Great and Powerful swatch post featuring Glints of Glinda and When Monkeys Fly!, click here!
After swatching one of the pastel shades and a glitter polish from OPI’s Oz The Great and Powerful, I thought I’d follow up by swatching the lone dark polish from this limited edition Soft Shades collection. What Wizardry Is This? is a deep masculine bronzey brown lacquer in OPI’s new textured Liquid Sand formula.
What Wizardry Is This? was suprisingly easy to apply. I was expecting the combination of a dark lacquer and the texture particles in the polish to drag on the nail bed and pool at my tips, but it flowed smoothly and evenly. I used two thin coats to get a full finish, although I allowed a slightly longer drying time between coats to make sure the actual texture pieces didn’t move.
This is my first time using a liquid sand polish, and boyhowdy, ain’t it an interesting finish? It’s not as sharp and overly lumpy as a coarse glitter polish, but it’s much grittier than a microglitter or a mesh finish. In the shot above I’ve applied a thin coat of INM Out The Door, enough to seal the ends and boost the shine without altering the texture much.
Also I suggest taking a second to check out Makeup Utopia’s action shots of What Wizardry Is This? shot under direct sunlight. Her photographs really highlight the texture of the Liquid Sand formula!
