Aieee, excuse the label wearing on my tube of Lord & Berry Skin Gloss in Sweet Florida. It’s been rolling around my handbag for a week and I guess the ink isn’t super duper durable.

Skin Gloss is a lightweight thin gloss that’s not actually all that glossy. The theory is that you can apply one swipe for a subtle lustre, or add more layers until you’ve achieved the level of shine you want. Because the gloss itself is quite fine you can go to town and layer up to a dizzying mirror finish without it feeling thick and gooey.

Sweet Florida is somewhat deceptive in the tube. I bought it blind from ASOS on the assumption it would be a soft peach gloss, but it’s actually clear with subtle pink iridescence. Y’know, I’m actually not disappointed. I’m getting increasingly minimalist with my makeup – when I even do wear makeup – so it’s turned out to be a really wearable gloss for me. I just swipe on one layer and it gives a little bit of pep without being too made up.

The one downside I’ve experienced with this gloss is that it makes my lips super duper thirsty. You know that feeling when you get into a cycle of your lips feeling dry so you apply something moist, then they feel even more dry when it wears off? Like that. Applying a little of my favourite balm underneath cancels it out, but I’d rather I didn’t have to do that in the first place. Hmm.

Thirsty lips aside, this is a really banging gloss and it’s been elevated to that most rarified of statuses: it lives in my handbag.
