Ok, so I know Lanolips Lovely Lanolin Golden Ointment is technically for your hands, feet, and other places on your body that are definitely not your lips, but psht. Who cares. This stuff is hands down the best thing I’ve found for dealing with the world’s most small yet painful issue: split lips.
Once again both corners of my lips have cracked and split and they’re insanely painful. If you’re lucky enough to have never experienced the joys of a cracked lip, imagine papercuts in the corner of your mouth. Then imagine the feeling of papercuts every time you talk, yawn, eat or have a drink. It sucks. The only thing that helps is to keep the area moist, but that’s a problem in itself: because the skin is raw, just about everything hurts like hell when I put it on. Even all natural beeswax and shea butter balms sting.
Lanolips Golden Ointment
Which brings me to Lanolips Golden Ointment. Although this is technically a body moisturiser, I’m willing to handwave that away because it just works so damn well on my lips. Golden Ointment contains medical grade lanolin, manuka honey (an agent than encourages wound healing) and vitamin e, and is thick enough that it doesn’t melt away within a couple of minutes. I dab it on to my poor mouth every half an hour or so, and it keeps the skin moist and prevents the slowly healing split from tearing open again. Merciful!
