You’ll just have to trust me that Cue’s Sherbet Spliced dress looks a lot nicer on me/on a dressform. The stiff faille memory fabric spreads very wide at the waist when laid flat, but when I wear this frock it gathers nicely at the waist and flares off the hips. I picked up a size 14/US10 simply because the v-cut of the bustline was verging on pornographic when I tried on an AU12/US8. Not quite the look I was going for!
I turned Myer upside down looking for a dress for a party and I swore that for once I wouldn’t be in head to toe black, in a Cue dress, or both. Two hours later and feeling very shitty about my lumpen hideous sack of a body, I gave up and went to Cue. Lesson learned: always go to Cue first. They’re the only brand in Australia that consistently does stylish and fashion-forward clothes for normal and chubby body shapes, and it’s extremely rare for me to be unable to pick up something flattering and wearable.
The Sherbet Spliced Dress is AU$255 and is part of Cue’s brand new summer ’12 collection, out now.

I love the pattern and color. So cute. I can imagine the body will look so much thinner with the pattern.
