Oh, Essie. How did you know that I appreciate non-traditional seasonal colour sets? Amongst a sea of neons and candy bright polishes out for Spring, Essie’s Resort 2012 collection is a little oasis of sophisticated rich tones. I have two of the lacquers here to swatch for your perusal!
She’s Picture Perfect is a dusty lilac shot through with boatloads of fine hot pink shimmer. The formula was spot on, not too thick and not too thin, and I only used two thin coats for full coverage. Normally lilacs are a bit of a no-go for me, as the combination of pale pink-toned skin and blue-based purples give a result that’s a bit ‘alien hands’, but the pink shimmer in this polish keeps it from greying out.
No More Film is a deep blue-purple cream. The lacquer has a black pigment base rather than a white pigment base, so the colour looks clean and doesn’t have a dusty or faded quality. The formula was very thick but that’s balanced out by this polish being a one coat wonder, so over-application isn’t an issue. It dried a touch darker than bottle colour.
