OPI nail polish in Number One Nemesis – swatches, pictures & review

OPI - Number One Nemesis

OPI – Number One Nemesis

Huh. I never ended up seeing The Amazing Spider-Man, did you? I guess I was/am still too in love with the glorious Avengers movie to bother with my least favourite major Marvel superhero. Plus, hey, I’m getting a bit bored with Peter Parker. A film with the new Spider-Man, the adorable Miles Morales? Heck yes.

I had a peek at OPI‘s Amazing Spider-Man movie tie-in nail collection and I wasn’t super wowed. Maybe OPI has reached peak saturation much like MAC, when so many collections are released each year that they end up repeating each other ad nauseum. It doesn’t mean the collections are bad, per se, just that there are only so many variations of blue/plum/red/pink you can create in a short space of time.

However a friend gave me a bottle of Number One Nemesis to try out and I swatched it, looked at it, and realised that it’s a pretty close, almost identical dupe for Chanel Graphite. Graphite is a little more silvery and Number One Nemesis has a touch more charcoal in its base, but for all extents and purposes they’re the same polish. I applied three thin coats and still had a little bald patch showing on my ring finger, so I’d suggest applying this over a charcoal or deep forest green cream polish to boost the opacity.

Short version? If you already own Graphite, skip this one. If you don’t own Graphite, forget dropping AU$39 on the Chanel polish and pick Number One Nemesis instead at half the price.

  1. I was looking for swatches for the OPI Spiderman range and this colour looks very cool! It isn’t too dark and not too green. Perfect, reminds me of a greyish colour. Thanks for the review :)
