I’ve been a bit remiss about wearing lipstick lately because… well, I don’t know. I changed my glasses a few months ago to a particularly challenging style of frames and I’ve had to shake up my entire make-up routine accordingly. The logical change would’ve been to start wearing lipstick to give equal focal attention on my features, but I’m comfortably stuck in my routine of barely there lip colour and sheer glosses. Minimal chic is in, right?
That being said, I’m not totally lost to lipstick. Every now and then a lipstick comes along that reminds me that lipstick exists that isn’t dense or overpowering; that lipsticks can be so gosh darn pretty.
I swear this lipstick by Sisley was made for me. Hydrating Long Lasting Lipstick in Rose Petunia L34 is a bit plain looking in the tube, but on the lips? A crisp, clean, slightly cool rose lipstick that is lush without being neon, vibrant without being tacky, eye-catching without being loud.
I’d loosely classify this as a vintage pink. It has plenty of colour, yes, but there’s a little dusty note in the colour mix that removes some of the harsh brightness. Paired up with glowing skin, slightly peachy cheeks and a touch of mascara? Beyond classy.
On a more practical note this lipstick is dosed up with calendula (a natural softening agent) and vitamins E and C. The formula itself feels and applies like a gel lipstick, but gives creamy full colour in just one swipe. I popped it on without lip liner and it didn’t feather or bleed, even through several cups of tea. Wear time was around four hours, longer on the rare occasions I bother with lipliner.
