Excuse me for getting all Tumblr for a moment, but S C R E A M I N G. I’ve been waiting for these babies ever since rumours started a’flyin’ around Twitter that Face of Australia was working on some jumbo lip crayons. Face of Australia’s Sheer Gloss lip crayons are three chunky stick gloss crayons in a wind-up case. The texture of the gloss itself is gel-like on the lips, applying smoothly without feeling slick or greasy.
If you’re thinking, ‘wowza, they look just like Clinique Chubby Sticks!’ then yes, you’re totally on the ball. The packaging is slightly different (no metal end on the tube, a clear cap) but the product itself is identical.
Sundae is a clean caramel brown gloss. I hate to keep harping on about the similarity to Clinique’s Chubby Sticks, but Sundae is a dead ringer for Whole Lotta Honey. If you’re after an effortless natural nude colour, this is it and a bit.
Cupcake is an adorable clean pink that applied like a dream. Sometimes with pale pinks like this they can split and gather into noticeable ribbons of colour on the lip, but Cupcake held its form and wore flawlessly.
Macaron is a vibrant watermelon pink. I found this Lip Crayon to be a little less shiny than the other two which, to be honest, is fine by me. I prefer a satin finish for lip colours that trend towards red.
Face of Australia Sheer Gloss lip crayons are available now, at AU$14.95 for a pack of three with 3.8g of product in each crayon. Face of Australia products are available from Priceline, Kmart, Big W, and selected pharmacies across Australia. Gloss on!
