Almay One Coat Get Up and Grow mascara
Honest confession: I don’t wear mascara much any more. Now that I’m working from home I’m gloriously bare-faced 24/7 and only put on make-up when I’m forced to gussy up for a night out. So, err, I can’t really speak for the key selling point of this mascara, Almay’s One Coat Get Up & Grow mascara, which is that it has a ‘pro-vitamin formula’ to help prevent lash damage and breakage.
Whoops.

I can, however, speak about what it’s like as a mascara. Get Up & Grow mascara is a slightly dry cream mascara with a shaped fibre wand. The wand has an hourglass figure that promises to get to more lashes in fewer strokes and it does this admirably. It caught my itty-bitty corner lashes and gave them a slick of colour, although thanks to the dry formula the mascara brush can get a little overloaded and leave my lashes a little clumpy. A quick wipe of the brush on the way out of the tube solves that though.
One coat – shown above – gives a lovely natural and fluttery look to my lashes with no clumping. Two coats gives a more dramatic finish, but three coats is too much and gets super spider leggy. This mascara isn’t waterproof and I do notice a few smudges on my glasses after only an hour or two. Given that I wear glasses from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to bed, that’s kind of a huge dealbreaker for me. That’s disappointing because, honestly, it’s a lovely mascara in every other way.
