A quick swatch post from the archives! I found these images lurking deep in a folder of unprocessed images and thought I’d pop these up here in case they might be handy-dandy for someone looking at investing in some NARS eyeshadow duos.
Mélusine is a duo of silvery lilac and matte eggplant. The matte shade requires a little finesse-ing to get the best result – like many mattes it can ‘grab’ and get a little patchy – so I’d recommend using a paddle brush like the 239 Shader brush from MAC Cosmetics to pat on the colour and gradually build up intensity. The silvery lilac, however, is smooth and buttery and a dream to apply. Purples and cooler skintones can be a little hit or miss, but in this case Mélusine works perfectly on my pale, cool-toned skin.
Habanera is a duo of delicate seafoam green metallic shadow and a slightly sheer burgundy frost with subtle silver shimmer. This duo is perfect for a pared back smoky eye – sweep the seafoam green over the lid and work through the socketline, then work the burgundy frost along the lashline and smoke out into the outer crease with a soft, fluffy brush. I think this duo is going to be a winner this winter for a change from heavy dark shadows: finished off with a flick of burgundy eyeliner and lashings of mascara, it’s a look that’s more ethereal than hardcore. Delightful.
NARS eyeshadow duos are AU$55 for 4g, available from Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
