Words cannot describe how thrilled I am that Bioderma is (finally!) launching in Australia. I’ve been a devoted user of their Créaline H2O Micellar Solution ever since a fellow make-up artist was using it during prep for a show for what was then RAWF 2006. Our models had come straight from a show where they wore heavy greasepaint eye looks, ready to be transformed into stunning bare-faced natural beauties. I was doing hard duty with a traditional eye make-up remover whilst this other artist was whipping through her models without any tears, smudging, red eyes or model tantrums.
Afterwards she showed me what she was using and it was this nifty bottle of what looked like water. Babes, this ain’t water. The easiest way to describe a micellar solution is to think of it as being a water solution of little magic balls that adore lipids (fats and oils, both cosmetic and sebum-based). Pop a little of the micellar solution onto a cotton pad and wipe over a face full of make-up, and all that gets left behind is clean skin that’s barely damp. Waterproof mascara is no challenge, and it takes away hard-wearing liner like MAC Superslick/Illamasqua Precision Ink without any tugging or pulling. It’s designed for the most sensitive of sensitive skins, so it’s free of, well, everything! Soap free, alcohol free, fragrance free, preservative free.
So what does this have to do with surviving a week of fashion madness? The beauty of Créaline H2O Micellar Solution is that its a ‘no rinse’ formula, meaning you don’t need to cleanse afterwards. Wipe on, wipe off, then crash into bed and pretend that there isn’t a 8AM make-up call tomorrow.
Take your make-up off. No excuses!
Bioderma is launching into Australia as we speak, so no longer will I have to beg friends and relatives to bring bottles of this magic French elixir back from Hong Kong and Singapore. Bioderma Créaline H2O Micellar Solution is AU$39.95 for 250ml, available from selected independent pharmacies. A local Bioderma website with online shopping will be launching very soon; I’ll keep you posted when it goes live.
