I was out the other day, off doing whatever mysterious things I do when I’m not chained to my desk desperately trying to write interesting things for this blog, and realised that I’d left the house in such a hurry that I’d forgotten a) my keys and b) my lipstick. One of those things could be fixed by a sweaty middle-aged guy with male pattern baldness, and the other could be rectified by walking into Priceline and seeing a great sale on Rimmel products. I’ll leave it up to you to work out which one was which.
Part of the Kate Moss for Rimmel London range, Lasting Finish Lipstick in 14 is a creamy, slightly peachy beige nude. To be honest I wasn’t expecting great shakes from an $11.95 lipstick because I’ve got $60 cream nudes sitting at home that gathered and split if I didn’t go through the rigmarole of lipliner + lip brush + blotting, so how good is a cheap and cheerful nude lipstick applied straight from the tube gonna be?
Lesson learned: don’t be a make up snob. Even when applied straight from the tube, this lipstick held its form without splitting into the fine lines of my lips. The texture is neither matte nor super creamy; more of a satin finish that straddles the difference between matte long wear and creamy comfort. I would advise getting your lips into tip-top condition first or at least rocking a good waxy lipbalm if your lips are a little dry, as this formula did dry and settle a little with time.
Kate Moss for Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick in 14 is AU$11.95 for 4g. Rimmel products are available from Priceline, Kmart, Target, Big W, Coles supermarkets & selected pharmacies nationally. Happy lipsticking!
