Kiehl's Essence Oils
So this is something a little neato I’ve been wearing for a few months now. Instead of wearing and carting around a big ol’ bottle of perfume, I’ve been wearing a mix of Kiehl’s Essence Oils in Cucumber and Grapefruit. The cucumber oil gives a nice earthy base, the alkaline note of cucumber balancing the sharp, acidic tanginess of grapefruit. It’s a good combination, uplifting and refreshing without being sweet or too sharp.
Kiehl’s essence oils are packaged in tough brown glass vials with rollerball applicators. They’ve survived bouncing around in my handbag for months without any breakages, and I’m not exactly gentle when it comes to tossing my phone/iPad/laptop/wallet/life into my bag without looking first. Application ain’t rocket science: a dab on my wrist usually suffices, or I get saucy and apply both oils to my décolletage for extra oomph.
What I’m digging most of all about these oils is the convenience factor. A dab of oil keeps its scent for hours, and by using something without alcohol I can be sure I’m not irritating my skin. Also a key point to note is that these Kiehl’s oils aren’t essential oils and as such are totally safe to be applied directly to your skin even when pregnant or breast feeding. Nice!
Kiehl’s essence oils in Cucumber and Grapefruit are each AU$25 for 7ml, available from selected Myer and David Jones stores and from Kiehl’s Australia.

I love these! I chuck the Coriander one over my sweeter scents to spice them up a bit and take the orginal Musk one when travelling as both me and the boy love to use it. The price drop last year was great too, think I’ll try Cucumber next!

Have you tried perfume oils, like BPAL?

Some of my friends are really into BPAL but the kind of fragrance families they create are hugely opposite to what I like to wear. I’m not a fan of florals or dense musky scents – if I was I’d be in BPAL heaven!

I know, right? Unless its a fragrance I absolutely worship – Chanel Blue, my true fragrance! – then I’m more inclined to buy a rollerball than anything else.

These sound great! Have you ever tried the Lush solid perfumes? They are great for travelling or having in your bad. And because they are solid (and in a small tin), you don’t have to worry about spillages :)

I have tried the Lush perfumes, but the fragrances aren’t… well, they’re not great. I wore one and The Chap promptly killed it by voicing what I suspected: “Did you just spray bathroom freshener?”
