So here’s the deal. Most of us know we should use a night cream, and if you didn’t know that then here’s the skinny: our skin spends eight-ish hours of pillow time dealing with the fallout of a day spent in the sun and city. Pollution, city grime, make up, sunscreen… it’s a lot of stuff for your skin to deal with. Night creams are supercharged moisturizers that give your skin a huge ol’ drink of water as well as giving it the juice it needs to keep itself happy and and healthy.

If we know why night cream is important, then why do so many of us skip it? In a word, texture. Night creams are almost universally rich, dense and creamy which can feel overpowering and thick, particularly if you have younger skin or you’re a bit on the oily side. What can you use if you’re not into heavy creams? There’s not much out there.

Aquasource Nuit by Biotherm is a night moisturiser that packs all the hydration of a traditional night cream into a gel formula suitable for all skin types. It makes keeping my skin hydrated during a chilly 2oC Sydney winter night look like child’s play.

As we’re sliding into winter my dry skin is getting thirstier and thirstier. While this gel had enough oomph during the warmer months, my skin just inhales the lighter formula and demands more moisture. If you have oily to normal skin, though, you would be fine and dandy with a moisturiser of this weight.
