OPI – The Muppets Holiday Collection

This is gonna be a big one, so brace yourself! I have the full OPI Muppets Holiday Collection ready and rarin’ to go, in no particular order: Meep-Meep-Meep, Rainbow Connection, Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It!, Excuse Moi!, Divine Swine, Going Gonzo!, Animal-istic, Wocka Wocka!, Pepe’s Purple Passion, Designer… De Better!, Warm and Fozzie, and Fresh Frog of Bel Air.

Phew! Get a drink and settle down, we’re going to be here a while…

OPI - Excuse Moi!

OPI – Excuse Moi!

Excuse Moi! is a rosy pink jelly-esque base studded with multicoloured medium glitters and fine rose glitter. I’ve used two coats on the above swatch and there’s no nail line visible, so it doesn’t require a big build-up of product on the nail to get bang for your buck. Excuse Moi! dries very textured, so if you have an old thick bottle of Seche Vite laying around it would be perfect to cheat a smooth finish. There are two coats of Out The Door on the above swatch and it made zip zero zilch difference on the texture.

OPI - Gettin' Miss Piggy With It!

OPI – Gettin' Miss Piggy With It!

Top to bottom: Miss Piggy With It x 4 coats, x2 coats of a flat white nail lacquer, 1x coat over a flat red cream lacquer, x4 coats.

OPI – Gettin' Miss Piggy With It!

Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It is a clear lacquer studded with medium red glitter and large hexagon glitters in red and silver. It is the single most difficult to remove glitter I’ve ever encountered. Seriously, it was a true temple of trials to get this off even with patient soaking and lots of babying. Gettin’ Miss Piggy is pretty and glorious when slicked over a red creme polish, but I honestly don’t know if I’m willing to put my nails through this kind of torture unless the situation really calls for blingtastic glitter nails.

Ready to see the rest of the OPI Muppets Holiday Collection? There’s oh so much more after the cut…

OPI - Meep-Meep-Meep

OPI – Meep-Meep-Meep

A lacquered shoutout to my two favourite Muppets, Dr Bunsen Honeydew and his long-suffering assistant Beaker? Heck yeah! Meep-Meep-Meep is a deep fuchsia with pink glassy flecks. Application was an easy two coats for a full finish, and its dried texture is only a little bumpy. A generous slick of top coat will give it a smooth, glassy finish.

OPI - Animal-istic

OPI – Animal-istic

Animal-istic is a super fun bright red with lots of Animal orange flecks. If I’d been a little more steady handed this would’ve been a single coat application, but alas, I required two coats to cover my ineptitude. It dries to a smooth finish.

OPI - Designer... De Better!

OPI – Designer… De Better!

Designer… De Better! is a pewter metallic studded with bronze flecks. Two coats, smooth finish, marry me. This is an almost identical dupe to one of my top five nail lacquers of all time, Kit Cosmetics ‘Move Up’, so Designer… De Better! automatically gets a big tick of approval from me.

OPI - Wocka Wocka

OPI – Wocka Wocka!

Wocka Wocka! is my stand-out favourite from the entire collection. I just can’t go past a a classic deep hotrod red shimmer, y’know? This could easily be a single coat application if you have steady hands, but I went with two coats for a flawless application and sealed it with a high gloss top coat for extra perfection.

OPI - Pepe's Purple Passion

OPI – Pepe's Purple Passion

Pepe’s Purple Passion is a deep purply-red cream studded with coarse shimmer. This was a disaster polish: it was thick, goopy, difficult to apply, shrunk on the nail and dried to a murky finish. It was so thick and goopy, I initially thought that I’d somehow been given a tester that had been liberally used and abused.

The shimmer in Pepe’s Purple Passion also settles incredibly quickly. I shock the bottle before taking the above swatch photo, and within a couple of hours it had settled to the extent of the picture below. If you store your lacquers upside down, be prepared for your bottle to become unusable very, very quickly.

OPI - Warm and Fozzie

OPI – Warm and Fozzie

Warm and Fozzie is a bronze metallic polish studded with copper and pink flecks. Two coats gives a full finish with only a slight visible texture. I can see myself returning to this once summer passes and the weather cools, but for now it’s a little too warm for this cool skinned gal.

I hope you’ll forgive me this rare diversion away from real nail swatches, but after my experience with Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It!, I couldn’t bear applying and removing so much glitter. I know it’s not as good as a real nail swatch, but even I have limits.

OPI – Fresh Frog of Bel Air

Fresh Frog of Bel Air features grassy green medium glitter and large silver glitter discs in a clear base. Shown above are three even coats.

OPI - Divine Swine

OPI – Divine Swine

Divine Swine is a mix of royal purple medium glitter and large silver glitter discs in a clear base. Shown above are three even coats.

OPI - Gone Gonzo!

OPI – Gone Gonzo!

Gone Gonzo! sports sky blue medium glitter and large silver glitter discs in a clear base. Shown above are three even coats. If you were expecting another Absolutely Alice, then I’m afraid you’re going to have to keep on searching because Gone Gonzo! is in a different school of bling entirely.

OPI - Gettin' Miss Piggy With It!

OPI – Gettin' Miss Piggy With It!

Gettin’ Miss Piggy With It features cherry red medium glitter and large silver and red glitter discs in a clear base. Shown above are three even coats.

OPI - Rainbow Connection

OPI – Rainbow Connection

Rainbow Connection is a mix of multicoloured large and medium glitter in a clear base. I’ve swatched three even coats in the above picture. This would look spectacular as a feature nail on an otherwise austere chic black mani.

Such a fun collection, don’t you agree? OPI nail lacquers are AU$19.95 for 15ml, available from leading salons and David Jones all across Australia. Happy lacquering!

  1. holy cow these are amazing! I love all of the glitter ones. I have never seen nail polish with so much glitter in it. I want the Excuse Moi colour! SO SO PRETTY

  2. Such a beautiful collection, I actually like that finally it’s quite different from otheir other colours.

    • It’s nice and unusual for a holiday collection. Lots of wintery red, obviously, but it’s still a collection that’s going to rock for a hot summer!

  3. I’m in love with Warm & Fozzie.

    • If I was the sort of person who wore, y’know, jeweled sandals and bedazzled kaftans, Warm & Fozzie would make an interesting pedi colour. Alas, the pain of being a fat nerd in Chuck Taylors!
