Fun fact! I have never used Revlon makeup in my life. Heck, until a few weeks ago I’d never used anything from Revlon at all. What better excuse to go adventuring through unexplored regions of the beauty floors than a theme month tenuously based around a bad pun? The Hunt for Red October, baby. All crimson, all the time!
Revlon Colorburst lipstick in True Red is a super pigmented, slightly glossy lipstick that runs slightly blue-based cool. The lipstick itself is a lightweight formula that avoids the dense heavy texture of most non-matte heavily pigmented lipsticks – all the colour, none of the thickness.
Given that Colourburst lipsticks are a slightly glossy light textured lipstick, don’t expect the same kind of wear time you’d rock with a matte or dense cream lipstick. Without lipliner and applied straight from the tube I got a reasonable two hours of wear before a touch-up was 100% required. The wear time was dramatically increased when I applied it with a lip brush over lipliner, so take a lil’ dash of time to give yourself the best results.
Revlon Colorburst lipsticks are AU$23.95 and available from Myer, David Jones, Priceline and pretty much goshdarn everywhere. Happy lipsticking!
Addendum: if you’d like to see this lipstick in action on someone who isn’t just a pair of lips and a bit of swatchable skin, pop over to Beautyholics Anonymous to see True Red in action.
