The Hunt for Red October – Laura Mercier Satin Lip Color in Sangria

I’ve been a little stumped as to how to finish the Hunt for Red October. Priscilla-esque red glitter lips seemed a little over the top – incredibly fabulous, but still OTT – and opting for sheer red gloss seemed a little weaksauce.
After lots of hemming and hawwing, the perfect solution occurred to me: what’s better than a classic red lip? Matte but not dry, bold but not wild, classic without being boring. Clearly this called for Laura Mercier Satin Lip Color in Sangria.

Sangria by Laura Mercier is a classic raspberry red satin lipstick. Satin finish like a matte finish without the full dryness and flat appearance, combining the wear of a matte lipstick with a lighter, slightly creamy finish.

Like many matte/semi-matte/satin colours, Sangria wears like a champ even on bare, unlined lips. I notched up a good three hours on totally unprimed, unprepped lips even with a few cups of coffee, no bleeding or feathering along the lipline. I’d definitely recommend using a matching lipline and applying with a lip brush to achieve a long wearing, flawless finish.
