Confession: I used to be a Dior girl. I worked for Dior as a ‘traveller’ – someone who would get called out to a random Myer or David Jones store for the day, plus or minus a lot of frantic scrabbling around to find stock depending on whether I’d been to a particular store before. Eventually I earned my stripes enough that I was requested for the flagship city counters more and more until I was a regular fixture, bringing just a little bit of my rock’n'roll to the make-up dance floor.
I’ve since moved on from Dior. I don’t miss my hands being permanently scented with J’Adore, but I do miss the fun I had working with the Dior ladies and gents all across Sydney. They taught me the perfect blend of elegance and cheekiness, and for that I’m perpetually grateful.
But enough of my reminiscing. You’re here for today’s Hunt For Red October lipstick post, right!
Dior Addict lipstick in New Look 745 is a bright poppy red with very discreet pinky-red shimmer. The shimmer isn’t enough to create a disco-tastic sparkly mess, but rather it helps to emphasise a dewy, moist look on the lips. The depth of colour toes the line between ‘rich’, ‘bright’ and ‘wearable’ – not too red, not too pink, not too orange.
The best part of this lipstick is the texture and wear. A lot of gel lipsticks are still quite waxy and stiff to apply, but the low wax/high oil content in Dior Addict lipsticks mean it’s buttery smooth to apply even when swiped on straight from the tube. It wears down evenly to a blush stain on the lips and doesn’t get dry or tacky as it ages, so my lips never get that thirsty gotta-reapply-asap feeling. Lovely jubbly.
Dior Addict lipsticks are AU$49 for 3.5g. Dior cosmetics are available at Myer, David Jones and selected pharmacies across Australia. Mwah!
