Need a fast nail fix? If you’re in the market for a quick drying nail lacquer that’s a one coat wonder (or you’re just a lazybones who can’t be bothered doing a fancypants mani all the time, holaaaaaaa at me), take a wander over to your nearest Revlon stand and take a peek at their Top Speed nail enamel line.
They promise a fast-drying polish with an inbuilt top coat to leave you shiny and polished in the time it takes to drink your morning heartstarter coffee. My inner lazybones is already interested…
Total honesty: I’ve never used Revlon before. Not just Revlon nail lacquer, but Revlon anything. My pool of comparison to other Revlon products is a big fat zero. I am a Revlon virgin, to belabour the point a little more.
Jelly is a fun pink-red cream lacquer that is, wait for it, a one coat wonder. This photographed marginally more red than it actually is, but it certainly isn’t a pinky-pink polish. One coat gave uniform coverage and it dried to a nice glossy finish. Definitely something to try for a summer pedicure.
Electric is a lemon yellow lacquer studded with fine golden shimmer. The shimmer is much more noticeable in the bottle; on the nail it serves more to give some subtle depth of colour rather than be a blingtastic sparkle explosion. This required two thin coats to get full coverage and dried to a gloss finish.
How appropriate is it that my favourite colour of the bunch is also the biggest problem child? Royal is a rich royal blue cream without any shimmer or sparkle. If you’re sick of blue lacquers always look black or looking wishy-washy, then this is the blue for you. On the flip side Royal is slightly sheer even with two generous coats and it dried to a satin finish rather than glossy. I topped it with a little gloss topcoat prior to the above picture, but don’t expect a super glossy result by itself.
Oh Royal. I love you even though you’re not perfect.
Sasstacular, right? If you’re in the mood for a fast nail thrill, the full 32 colour range of Revlon’s Top Speed nail lacquers are in store now for AU$15.95 for 14.7ml.
Bonus fun! As part of ACP’s 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty my fellow beauty bloggers and myself will be livetweeting the Revlon Top Speed & Cosmopolitan show from 2:45PM tomorrow. Hit up my twitter account and make fun of my inevitably appalling spelling and incredible lack of style knowledge~

Love the yellow. You often get yellows that streak and this doesn’t look like it does. Definitely a beauty.

Loving the yellow, especially if that was only 2 coats (I always have problems with yellow polish). That blue is gorgeous too.

OOH I’m kinda liking that pinkish red color, and I don’t usually like pink/red polish XD
