MAC Styledriven swatches – Good To Go lipcreme, What A Blast! lipliner

So who else is a zombie after Australian beauty Bloggers Weekend? No doubt we’re all attractive, well-groomed zombies with fabulous lipstick, but zombies nonetheless. In the spirit of zombiedom, please excuse this post for being less chatty and more to the point than normal. I’m about two minutes off faceplanting into my keyboard and letting WASD gently imprint into my forehead as I snore away, and for some reason I don’t think ujhyftgyh jujkjklllllwezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz really counts as a thoughtful, coherent blog post!

I popped past MAC in Paddington last week on a search for my beloved Strut Eye Brows pencil – which was out of stock again, good game MAC – and, in the spirit of impulse purchasing I treated myself to a little itty bitty handful of items from Styledriven, the latest extension to MAC’s Pro Longwear suite of products.

Good To Go Pro Longwear Lipcreme is a creamy bright orange lipstick without any yellow undertones. I’ve worn it a few times this past weekend and even when applied straight from the tube, it didn’t go cakey or chunk-o-rama like many other creamy lipsticks as it aged. Worn without lipliner or primer it survived a few cups of tea and some non-oily lunch, plus it left quite a considerable stain as it faded. It’s definitely not a twelve hour lipstick like MAC claim, but it wore a lot longer than a typical matte lippie.

MAC - What A Blast

What A Blast Pro Longwear lip pencil is a matte water-resistant lipliner in a clean medium orange. Bright orange lipliners are rarer than hens teeth, so I was making grabby hands at this as soon as I saw it.The finish is a little too matte to wear by itself, but it’s dandy to pop under bright orange lipsticks and glosses, or to give a coral lip a vibrant boost.
The texture, finish and wear time of the Pro Longwear lipliners are identical to MUFE Aqua Lips liners, and What A Blast is Aqua Liner 17C Bright Orange wearing a different outfit. Dupe alert!

Awww yeah, ladies love lipstick swatches. Single swipes on bare skin, running from left to right:

  • MAC Pro Longwear Lipstick Good To Go,
  • Illamasqua Flare,
  • MAC Morange,
  • MAC Vegas Volt.

Good To Go is pinker than Morange but doesn’t have the salmon tones of Vegas Volt. Flare is, as always, infinitely more yellow-based than anything short of the sun. If you already own Morange, Good To Go may be just too similar to justify owning both. Your mileage may vary.

Pro Longwear Lipcreme lipsticks are AU$40 and Pro Longwear Lip Pencils are somewhat ambitiously priced at AU$42. Styledriven is available from MAC online and in stores now.
