“How can you say no to something that smells like breakfast and cognac?”
Sometimes you just gotta go lo-fi when it comes to skincare. I’m totally down with riding the chemical dragon and feeling the burn, man when it comes to scrubs and exfoliants, but sometimes it’s nice just to chill, relax, and opt for skincare that’s gentle and babying on your sweet lil’ visage.
Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream is a low-tech gentle polishing cream that uses natural polishing agents like almonds and oatmeal to gently whisk away dull skin. The magic dealio with this exfoliant isn’t that it’s gritty or abrasive (it isn’t), but rather that it cleverly uses a particular type of naturally sticky oil to encourage dead skin cells to hit the road, all without leaving you greasy, pink-faced or in any way less glorious-looking.
Sensitive/sensitised skin boys and gals, c’mon down. This one is for you.
Daily Exfoliating Cream is a product where technique is king. If you smush it on like a normal exfoliant and rub it all over your dial, it’s not going to do much except leave you looking like you passed out into your porridge. Squeeze a twenty cent coin-sized bit of exfoliant into damp hands, briskly rub together to excite all that natural sesame and macadamia oil into forming a paste and then apply to the skin in a firm ‘press and release’ motion. As the almonds and oats give your skin a gentle polish, those oils wick up all that dead skin and leave nothing behind but a healthy glow.
On days where I’m not wearing any make-up, Daily Exfoliating Cream followed by a warm damp cloth is more than enough to cleanse my dry skin. On days where I am rocking a full face of warpaint I use a dab of Dermalogica’s Precleanse to remove my make-up, use Daily Exfoliating Cream and then follow with a mild cleanser to leave myself fresh and squeaky clean.
Jurlique Daily Exfoliating Cream is AU$30 for 40ml (pictured) or AU$63 for 125ml, available from Jurlique.com.au, Jurlique stores and from all good department stores.
