Chanel Peridot nail lacquer swatch & review

Diesel spills. Splashed antifreeze. That oily, lustrous sheen of spilt chemicals, full of greens and golds and colours not found in nature. I have a weakness for nail lacquers what I loosely term ‘industrial colours’ – gunmetal grey, oily blues, greens that are more chemical than chlorophyll. Maybe it’s my deep love of the industrial sciences spilling in to my beauty life? Possibly.

I originally picked up Chanel Peridot nail polish on a whim because I walked past the Chanel counter, saw a lustrous bottle of green-gold goodness and did a comedy double-take to go back and snaffle it. That’s right, I purchased a bottle of Chanel polish at full retail. Crazy, I tell you.

Unfortunately Peridot isn’t quite as amazing on the nail as it looks in the bottle. Two coats gave full coverage without any bald spots or dragging, but like most Chanel polishes I’ve used it chipped within a day or two. Peridot is a perfectly serviceable olive gold with green duochrome, but for me the reality didn’t quite match up to the promise. Oh well. What’s a girl to do?

I wanted to love this but I have to say it’s a bit meh for me! I was hoping it would be more green than gold. Chips in two days? My Barry M’s stay on for at least 5 days before I see a chip! Eeeek

Oh my stars. I’ve been waiting for you to post this since I saw you’d bought it on twitter. I don’t care if it chips after 2 days – it’s worth it!!
