Illamasqua – Fable lipstick

Illamasqua - Fable

Illamasqua - Fable

Fable lipstick from Illamasqua is an old-school chalky pale pink with no shimmer, no muss, no fuss. Just straight up, no foolin’ 60′s cupcake pink in a super matte finish, jam packed with full-finish colour.

If your lips are dry, flaky or in any way less than perfect, the dry texture of Fable will zero in on any flaws and leave you looking a little Ashy Larry. A dry lip balm or lip primer (I swear by Too Faced Borderline clear lip crayon) will help take the harsh edge off and fill in any patchy spots. I’ve said this about every Illamasqua lipstick so far, but bear with me as I repeat myself yet again: a lip brush is your friend. Applying Fable with a brush will prevent it from getting patchy, lumpy, chunky and generally not cute.

If the boldness of a matte bubblegum pink lip leaves you a little scarred of looking like a lost member of the Shangri-Las, a slick of clear or translucent pale pink glass does wonders to make it a bit more modern and wearable. Here I’ve topped Fable with one of my favourite Illamasqua products, Rouse sheer gloss. Makes it a whole less scary, right?

Illamasqua lipsticks retail for AU$39 for 4g and are available at Illamasqua counters exclusively at Myer. Mwah!

This lippy looks uber cool on girls like you, but I personally can’t pull it off with my skintone without looking like a hooker :)

Aww, thank you! The half hour of rejected images from trying to capture a Laura Mercier lipstick this afternoon tells me that it’s not an easy process sometimes ;)

Test is a really nice lipstick from Illamasqua if you’re after something easy and wearable. Flare is a killer shade if you want something totally killer though :D

Wow that lip color looks great on you. and you have awesome lip shape. looks even better with the gloss too. the one thing about illamasqua lipstick is that it’s kinda drying, and my lips aren;t always in the best condition. :(

    Great blog!

The texture of Illamasqua lippies can be a little challenging, true. I just look at it that a bit if extra work applying it at first means it wears longer than most other lipsticks that are easier to just slap on.

      Gotta earn that wear time!

I adore the Illamasqua lippy I have, one of the only matte shades to work for me. This is stunning, with or without the glossy finish. When I but this, it’s on your head ;)
