Sportsgirl nail polish in Purple Rain
Ugh, what a horrible disappointment.
The basics: Purple Rain nail polish from Sportsgirl is a royal purple with red and blue pearl. It’s basically a direct dupe for OPI’s Who Are You Wearing from 2007′s Holidays in Hollywood Christmas collection.
Back to the disappointment of this polish. I’ve never used Sportsgirl polish before this so I don’t know if this is a common occurrence, but when I opened this polish at home the edges of the bottle and the inside of the lid was thickly crusted with dried up polish. My brand new bottle of polish wasn’t just used, it was very used. Gross, right? The polish itself was extremely thick and applied goopily, then chipped the next day (I was wearing CND Sticky base and Seche Vite top coat).
The bottle itself is a triumph of looks over function – the tall narrow bottle is a perfect shape for accidentally knocking it over, and the very long brush neck and long bristles were basically a perfect combination to make neat application nearly impossible. How supremely pointless to have a bottle designed by someone who obviously never paints their own nails?
Sportsgirl nailpolishes retail for AU$7.95 from Sportsgirl stores and from Sportsgirl.com.au, but for the love of god, don’t bother buying them.
