Butterfly Ball is a new line of sheer tint lipsticks from Lipstick Queen, designed to soothe and moisturise the lips with vitamin E and aloe vera, plus use a little cool-based shimmer to catch the light and help teeth appear whiter. Fly is a juicy bright rose, striking in colour without being a solid garish pink. I wear an awful lot of rosy pinks so they’re definitely my Jeopardy special topic, but the combination of the jelly-ish colour and that very subtle flicker of turquoise shimmer makes this unique in my collection.
The most noteable thing about this lipstick is, to me, the texture. It’s divine. It has a buttery, soft feel on the lips, and the only thing I can think of that feels similar are the Lip Butter balms from Korres. The lipstick is firm enough that it won’t break at the base – a common issue with sheer glossy lipsticks – but has enough give that you can apply it straight from the tube with great results.
As far as base and prep goes, stick to either a little dryish clear balm or an invisible lipliner underneath this. This shade works best over a bare lip to give that really juicy, rich finish. This shade looks lovely on me, a true PPP, but would look even better on a rich, darker skintone due to the shimmer not being silver based (no ashy lips!) and there being no white or beige pigment in the lipstick.
Fabulous product, and I’m very glad I bought it on impulse!
