I think the most common descriptions for NARS Dragon Girl are ‘Wonder Woman Red’ and ‘Oh dear…’.
It’s red. Really, really red. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m not shy of wearing a righteous red lip at all sorts of occasions*, but every time I put this particular Velvet Matte Lip Pencil I end up taking it off after about 15 minutes and going back to one of my staple reds. I’m not sure what it is exactly – that slightly 90’s dry and crumbly texture, or the colour having this semi-neon undertone that seems to give it a less solid, strong appearance, or… I don’t know, really.
I really want to like NARS products, and given the prices they command in Australia I’d have to like it to buy it ($50 lipsticks! $80 Multiples! It’s enough to make you faint), but with the exception of Cactus Flower creme blush and possibly Desire powder blush, I’m yet to be completely won over. Does anyone else feel like this with NARS products?
* Too Faced Borderline clear lipliner, MAC Cherry lip liner, Too Faced Runway Red lipstick, Lipstick Queen red Shine gloss. The perfect super-saturated screen siren red without a hint of neon/pink, and amazingly it lasts for hours without fading, bleeding or feathering.
